CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Izuku Midoriya
AGE: 16
CANON: My Hero Academia

CANON HISTORY: Here
CANON PERSONALITY:

Izuku is a hero to his core. He's a person who will always come to the defense of somebody who's being bullied, no matter who's doing the bullying. Even if it's the strongest person around, Izuku will throw himself in front of them so the other person could get out safely. Though he knows he's at a disadvantage, he doesn't let that stop him from trying to help as many people as he can.

Once he's given the chance to become a hero, his dream profession ever since he was five, he throws himself into it wholeheartedly. It means even more that All Might was the one to offer it to him, he is Izuku's number one hero. He's well aware that he's working with nothing, and knows everyone around him is stronger. So he overworks himself to the point of collapse. If he's given the chance he goes above and beyond the scope of what his mentor asks. When he's presented with the challenge of cleaning part of a beach, he instead cleans the entire thing without being asked.

When he sees somebody else in danger his body moves much faster than his mind does. He'll try to save them without any regard for his own well being. Because of these actions he's landed in the hospital more often than anyone else in his class. He has never regretted any of them. Every time it was to save somebody else. That's what matters to him, not praise, not the adulation of the crowds, just being able to save people. The thing about All Might that Izuku latched onto was his ability to save people, so he emulated that aspect of his hero.

He's very dedicated to becoming a hero and devoted to All Might. If All Might asked him to do something, Izuku would do ask he's asked, even despite his own potential misgivings. While his first instinct is to reason through a plan or find some other way around a problem, he's slowly starting to develop a decent understanding and use of One for All. He's quick thinking and resourceful. Faced with life-threatening situations, he stays level-headed and can use everyone's abilities to create a usable strategy to get them out of danger with as little damage as possible (save for his own body).

Izuku is the kind of person who puts others before him, even when it would be a detriment to himself. He gets injured often in the process of saving people. And even when it's not physically saving people, he still goes out of his way to do it. When faced with an opponent that was only using half of their skill set Izuku convinced them into using their full arsenal of powers, even though it was during a one on one match and his opponent tapping into that would mean Izuku's loss. His own standing means much less to him than being able to help others.

He often thought of himself as lesser and assumes the worst about any situation when it relates to just himself. If it's a situation that's just about him, he'll focus on the negatives of the outcome. Not that he passed a test, but the fact that there's so much that he can't do yet. Not that he saved somebody, but that there was somebody else he couldn't save. This dwelling on his shortcomings does drive him to do better and makes him find workarounds for things he cannot do.

To himself, Izuku says that he's lucky. He's lucky that he was chosen by All Might, he's lucky his friends give him the time of day. He's lucky. He doesn't put any emphasis on the fact that it was his actions that made All Might chose him. The fact that he had to work hard and earn One for All doesn't matter. He will always think of himself as lucky, and when he looks around himself he wonders if he really deserves One for All when there are people who are much more deserving. Most of the time this pushes him to work harder and do better, but in some dire circumstances Izuku might ask of someone else might want his power.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
One for All: The result of a power that transfers powers and a power that stockpiles power. Grants superhuman strength, agility and mobility by spreading power through his body. It can be given away if someone ingests Izuku's DNA as long as he's willing to relinquish the power. It cannot be forcefully taken away, but it can be forcibly given.

- Full Cowl: This is the technique that Izuku learns so he can use One for All without breaking bones. He's slowly increasing the percentage of One for All that he can use without causing massive damage to himself.

Analysis: After spending so long loving heroes who had superhuman abilities, Izuku is very good at analyzing strengths and weaknesses of different powers. He keeps volumes of notebooks about the various heroes he's come across.

Artistry: Pretty good drawing skills! He uses it to draw heroes in his notebooks.

Strength: In order to use One for All to any degree Izuku trains his body to be able to handle the power. As a result even not using the quirk he's very strong and agile for his age.

High Pain Tolerance: Izuku used to break his bones often. He breaks his fingers one by one in order to use One for All and continues doing it despite the pain.

Ambidextrous: He's broken both of his hands before, and so he's learned how to use both hands for writing and eating.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Izuku Midoriya
AU AGE: 19
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES:
- He's 5'11"
- Way less muscled than his canon version
- Hair is black instead of green
- No scars/disfigured right hand
AU HISTORY:
- Was born in Japan to a Japanese mother and an American father.
- For the first six years of his life he grew up in Japan before moving to a small town in Utah so they could all live together as a family.
- His father gave him comic books to slowly ease him into learning English, he can read and write it decently, but speaking it was still difficult.
- When he started first grade he didn't speak English that well and as a result, got bullied.
- Though his English improved, the bullies found other things to bully him for (accent, not liking the same things as them, etc). They enjoyed calling him worthless and useless.
- Izuku told nobody about this, not his teachers, not his family.
- He got really good at running when the bullies were only after him.
- The first year it happened he latched on very hard to (the Recolle knock-off of) Captain America and tried to channel that character's spirit.
- He tried to defend other kids. It only got him more beaten up. It didn't stop him from trying to defend them, but he came home injured a lot. He waved it off as just falling or getting lost in a forest.
- But superheroes aren't real and "hero" isn't a real job. It wasn't something he could become.
- In middle school the bullying reached its apex as one of the kids told him his life was worthless and he might as well jump off the roof and hope for a better next life.
- His father got a transfer and they all moved to Recolle.
- During high school he was reading all kinds of books about jobs only to come out more confused than ever.
- He does have good grades despite everything that happened at school, and so he got a decent scholarship to Recolle University.
- He finished all his gen eds last year and now has the daunting task of trying to chose his major.
- Looking at creative writing, art and media.
- Comic books are near and dear to his heart.
- He's watched every superhero movie several times over and can recite them all by heart.
- He works part time in a small restaurant.

AU PERSONALITY:
Izuku is mostly the same.

Without heroism being a real job, Izuku has no idea what he wants to do with his life. He doesn't have his clear cut path that he latched onto as a child. In college he's desperately searching for something that gives him a sense of fulfillment and purpose.

Because he was bullied since he was young, Izuku tends to keep to himself. When people approach him for the first time, he tends to shy away from them until he gets to know them better. He very rarely approaches strangers. The only time he's willing to is when they're getting bullied or threatened. Then Izuku steps in, knowing full well he's going to lose, but he doesn't feel right standing idly by when somebody needs help.

No matter what he keeps whatever injuries and bullying that happens to him a secret. He doesn't like worrying his family or the few friends that he does have. So he keep it quiet. While he doesn't notice he's internalized all of those "worthless" and "useless" jeers that his classmates used to call him. He thinks the best possible use of his life is to help somebody else extend theirs. Izuku doesn't value himself as much as he should, though he doesn't have a death wish- mostly because he doesn't want to cause any heartbreak to his family.
