Welcome to Heaven.

Upon arrival, each shinki is assigned to a god. Wait and they'll find you.

Do your best to get along with your god.

Shinki are mostly here to help your god with what they want to accomplish, like prayers and helping humans.
Those prayers may involve combat with ayakashi. Ayakashi are monsters made of negative emotions.
Shinki have a vessel form that can kill ayakashi.
Shinki cannot choose their vessel form but it has some kind of power. Work with your god to find it.
Your partnership means that your god will provide for you, shelter, food and clothing are part of that.

In the event a shinki would like to be more independent they can try to get a job on the Near Shore.
Humans have a hard time seeing people from the Far Shore and will likely not notice gods or shinki.

Shinki can draw a borderline.

First, make your fingers into a halberd. Make a loose fist and extend your thumb, middle and index finger. Then, while thinking about drawing that line between you and what you want to be kept out, draw a line with your hand.
Line! Swipe your hand through the air there will be a line that gets transcribed on the ground.

It's a wall between them and whatever is to be kept away.
It can also be used to cut ayakashi.
However, only a shinki in vessel form working with their god can kill an ayakashi.
Shinki can also cast stronger spells after they've learned how to make a strong borderline. Please ask Kairi [Kairi's number] for details.

Shinki can teleport between the Near and Far Shores using their god's shrines, or another shrine with permission.

If your god disappears you have the option of choosing your new one. If you wait long enough, the Heavens will reassign you.
Going without a name is not recommended. You need one to cast borderlines and spells.
Ayakashi may chase unnamed shinki and try to eat them.

A shinki with multiple names is called a 'nora'. In this culture, they're looked down on as traitors.
As such, it's not recommended. Though new shinki and gods do not necessarily share this view, so some new shinki chose to become nora.

Shinki can be named against their will.
If this happens to you contact Bishamon, Izanagi, Aidos or Hachiman.

If a shinki feels negative emotions, their god feels them. (It doesn't work the other way around.)

There are two types of blight.
From ayakashi and from guilt.

Ayakashi blight can be cleansed with holy water.
Too much is painful and potentially fatal.
Do not let it get to this point.
Shinki in vessel form are resistant to this type.

Guilt blight comes from doing something under a guilty conscious.
If this happens you'll blight your god.
Please talk to your god as soon as possible so the blight can be washed away. Be open and honest with each other.
If this gets excessive there's a procedure called 'absolution'.
It's terrible and painful.
Do not let it get to this point.

Occasionally new shinki can remember things about their pasts.
These memories will not turn them into an ayakashi.
However, if somebody tells a shinki about their past they can turn into an ayakashi.
Be careful about memories.

Occasionally new gods and shinki can swap roles.
We don't know what causes this.
